5 reasons why many of our Haitian-American women are still single
Haitian-American single women have a very challenging time in finding suitable partners. If you ask them why, they will reply “Oh well, I couldn’t find the right guy” or “I don’t have time for a relationship” or “I’m focusing on my career” and so on. But are these the real reasons why more and more Haitian-American women are single? The numbers do not lie, here are 5 reasons why they are still single. Check this out!
1. Less men are available. Haitian-American women are less likely to date outside of their community than Haitian-American men. There is not an equal number of Haitian-American men available. To make matter more complicated, many Haitian-American men date women from other ethnic groups and are less likely to stay in long-term relationship with Haitian-American women.
2. Family issues. Our single women have more chances to meet a guy who did not have a father. It is estimated that 72% of African-Americans are raised by a single mother (the numbers are not available for Haitian-Americans, so we assume they are similar). Boys who grew up without a father figure are more likely to repeat the cycle of not making commitment.
3. Missing daddy. Many Haitian-American women have grown up in a house without a father. Girls who grow up without a steady father figure are more likely to misinterpret the real feeling of love. This thing makes them feel insecure and they are more likely to choose men who are insecure and not marriage material.
4. Household environment. Women who grew up in a single parent household and are surrounded by many single parents households tend to follow the same lifestyle. If you want to get married or stay married, hang out with married people (and find your own single man of course). Often, marriage runs in families or communities. It is not uncommon to find families where everyone is married and other families where no one is married.
5. Long hours and low income. If you work too many hours, unless your job has a pool of eligible bachelors, you will have less chances of meeting someone. When you are single, the key is to be available and spend your time where good men will most likely hang out.
