5 simple changes that could help you manage your weight.
Weight management without much effort. Lifestyle changes are keys to successful weight management. Here are some small changes that have worked for us.
1- Small dishes, glasses, and cups. We have learned from an early age to eat and drink everything that is in our plates. However, no one ever pay attention to the size of the dishes, glasses, and cups. In North America, to help us control our weight, we need to make sure we control the amount of food we eat. One easy way to do that is by using smaller dishes, glasses, and cups.
2- Avoid the splatter, fried food. There is no doubt that food tastes better fried. However, if you want to manage your weight you need to look at the benefits of not frying food such as a messy kitchen. Frying food get oil droplets all over the kitchen creating little tiny mess that you need to take care of sooner or later.
3- Keep desserts for special occasions once per month maximum. One rule of thumb is to get out of the habit of eating indulgent desserts after every meal. Make a schedule of the special occasions in your life and only buy rich desserts around these time. Fruits or low calorie and healthy dessert can be part of your regular meal plan.
4- No juice on the table. Get the glasses and pour some juice right out of the fridge. Then, walk to the table or chair and drink your juice. If you need more, walk to another room. If you insist on having more juice despite all, walk back toward the fridge. When the juice container is on the table, the tendency is to keep pouring. Unfortunately, juice hides calories that add up over the course of the year. Your best alternative might be to drink water.
5- Stay active and ditch the TV. Find an excuse to stay active. For example, during Winter I workout and run at the gym to prepare for the Spring 5K races. During the Spring, I run and swim to prepare for the bikini body. During the Summer, I hike, run, and play other sports to get ready for the Fall Holidays and stress. Then, during Fall, I head back to the gym to start lifting weight in order to increase my metabolism. The key is to find the activities that work best for your schedule to keep you moving.
